THIS REFERS TO MOODLE 2.2 UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST 2014

By default modules are created invisible to students but visible to the editing teachers so that staff can make appropriate changes before the students gain access. Students are added as soon as their module is added to their record in SATURN but they will not be able to see the module until it is made available to them.

To make a module visible to students:

  1. Go into your module.
  2. Go to Settings > Edit Settings
  3. Scroll down the screen until you reach the box marked 'Availability'.  This setting determines whether the module appears in the list of modules for students.

 4.     When this is set to 'This module is not available to students' the module is invisible to all apart from staff with appropriate access rights (such as Editing Teachers).
Change this to 'This module is available to students' and scroll to the bottom.
5.      Select 'Save changes'.

Greyed out modules

If a module is "greyed-out" when an editing teacher looks it then it is completely invisible to students.

Exmple of greyed-out module in My Home Module Overview. This is greyed out to staff - will be completely invisible to students.

On the module page itself, the shortname in the breadcrumb trail will also be greyed out.

Chances are this is a simple case of the module being hidden from student view. The above process will make it visible.
