Do I have Popup blockers?

Firefox

In Firefox, you can add specific websites to an allowed or exceptions list. Once you add a site to this list, pop-ups from that site are always visible. Mozilla's support pages show you how to manage pop-up blocker settings in  Firefox.

Chrome

In Chrome you can add specific sites to an allowed list so pop-ups for that site always appear. For more information on how to manage pop-up settings in Chrome, have a look at Google's support documentation.

Safari

Check the details on Safari to configure blockers to be disabled on University websites (remember to include katura, turnitin echo360 and other associated systems)

Edge (Win 10)

  1. Right-click on the Windows icon (lower-left corner of the screen), then click on Settings.
  2. Type "pop" or "block" into the search box on the window that comes up, and select "Block or allow pop-ups" from the suggested entries.
  3. Internet Properties window comes up, with the Privacy tab selected.  Make sure the "Turn on Pop-Up Blocker" checkbox is checked, then click on the Settings button
  4. Pop-Up Blocker Settings window comes up.  Add [in the "Address of website to allow" box] the URL address of the website for which you want to allow pop-ups, and click on the Add button (add more addresses if you want, in the same manner).
  5. Click on Close to apply the changes and close the window.
  6. Click on OK in the Internet Properties window to apply the changes and close the window.

Edge

It is not possible to enable popups from only specific sites in Edge. To disable the pop-up blocker in Microsoft Edge:

  1. In the new Microsoft Edge , go to Settings and more  > Settings  > Site permissions.
  2. Select Pop-ups and redirects.
  3. Move the Block toggle to Off.

iOS (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch)

The Safari pop-up blocker can be turned on and off on an iOS device as follows:

  1. From the home screen, open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down the list and tap the Safari option.
  3. In that new list, find the GENERALsection.
  4. In that section is an option called Block Pop-ups. Tap the button to toggle the option on and off. It will turn green to indicate that Safari is blocking pop-ups.
