How to upload a prepared website to Moodle

Prerequisite: you must have created a website with a number of linked pages, e.g.,  in a web editing tool.

Use relative links for all links between pages. Include all necessary supplementary files such as css style-sheets and images.

How to upload the zip file of the website

1. Make sure Editing mode is switched on using the 'Edit mode' slider in the top right corner.

2. In the topic where you want to add the recordings, click on ‘Add an activity or resource’.

3. This will produce a pop-up window listing Activities and Resources. Click on 'File'.

4. You will be taken directly to the 'Adding a new File' Enter the 'Name' of the Resource and a 'Description' if you wish.

5. You can drag and drop the zip file from a folder on your desktop - if you have them open together on your screen - into the content section (see below) or to add a zip file:

a. Click 'Add file' button (outlined in purple below).

b. Click 'Upload a file'.

c. Click 'Choose file'.

d. Browse to the zip file to add, select, and click 'Open'.

e. Click 'Upload this file'.

You should now see a zip file in the 'Select file' section.

6. When the zip file icon  appears in the editing screen, click on it and select 'Unzip'

7. IMPORTANT: Once unzipped, select the index or front page of your website and click on it then click 'Set main file'

8. Click 'Save and return to module' or 'Save and Display'.

9. When you had added the file, don't forget to 'Turn editing off' at the top right of the Moodle page.
