Troubleshooting

Logging in

You will need a University of Nottingham Associate IT Account to access Moodle.

Please ensure that you:

  • respond promptly to emails from the University asking you to set up your account: instructions will be included.
  • change your password when prompted

Go to moodle.nottingham.ac.uk

Login using your username (not email address) and the password you set.

On your Dashboard select My Modules (from the top row of the page) to see any modules you are enrolled on, usually those for which you are external examiner.

TIP: If you can't see the module you're looking for, check that the dropdown on the top left is set to "All" to see all the modules you are enrolled on.
Select 'All' in the dropdown menu


  • Click into a module.
    On the module page, Assessments are normally towards the top of the page
  • Click on Individual Submission Link, or whatever Section title seems most likely, if not that one.
  • Click on the Assignment
    It will either be a Turnitin Assignment (with logo Turnitin Assignment Logo next to the assignment title) 
    or a Moodle assignment (with logo Moodle Assignment Logo next to the assignment title)

In a Turnitin Assignment you can see the marks on the first page. Click on the blue pencil icon against a particular student to mark in the Feedback studio or to see feedback and marks (including rubrics, if present).

NOTE: If you have not accessed Turnitin before, you will be asked to agree to the Turnitin End-User Agreement. Please click 'I agree' or you will not be able to moderate assignments.

In a Moodle Assignment, click on View All submissions Or click on Grade to start entering marks and feedback.
