What is H5P interactive content?
H5P is short for HTML 5 Package. It is a content authoring tool that allows you to create interactions (e.g. multiple choice quizzes or virtual tours) that can be added as graded activities on your module or non-graded embedded elements within other Moodle resources like Page or Book.
H5P content for each Moodle module is held in a special repository called the 'Content Bank'.
To create H5P activities for your students is a two-step process.
- Create your H5P item in the Content Bank
- Add the item to your module.
Accessing the content bank
1. The module's menu along the top, select 'More' and then 'Content bank' from the dropdown.
2. This will open a new page. Click on the 'Add' button and select a content type from the dropdown.
3. The H5P authoring dialog will appear and you will need to fill in various fields (e.g. Title, Question name, Correct answers, and Feedback). Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required fields.
a) The H5P Demo Page (opens in new tab) is a self-enrol in Moodle provides useful guidance, how to guides to build each content type and examples of H5P so is a good place to start before you start authoring your first H5P.
b) Tutorials on how to create different types of interaction can also be found at H5P Tutorials (opens in new tab)
4) When you have completed all the fields select Save to see a preview of your new activity.
On completing these steps the content bank will now contain a .h5p package file which can be selected when adding H5P either as an activity [link to section below] in Moodle or as embedded content [link to section below].
To make changes to your activity, open your activity from the content bank and select the select 'Edit' then make any changes.
Copying content
You can copy H5P activities in the content bank to adapt them. To do this:
1. Go to the 'Content bank'
.
