How can I see when new items are added to a forum in my module?
If this has been enabled by the module creator, you can set Moodle to mark new forum posts for you:
- Go to your Dashboard by clicking the University logo on the top left of every page in Moodle
- Open your personal menu (the down arrow next to your name at the top right) and click 'Preferences'
3. Click Forum preferences
4. Under "Forum tracking" ensure it is set to 'Yes: highlight new posts for me'
5. When you have made these changes, click on the Save changes button
You can now see new posts highlighted in a number of ways, for example:
On the main module page:
In the forum:
The post itself is highlighted:
To ensure you're subscribed to a particular forum:
In the relevant forum:
- Click the Cogwheel at the top right of the forum and
- click "Subscribe to this forum".
Forum preferences
To receive an email every time someone posts
This means that you will receive an email (either every time someone posts or once a day, depending on your profile settings)
- Click your name (top right of the Moodle page) to drop down your personal menu and then Preferences
- Select Forum preferences
- "Forum auto-subscribe" should be set to 'Yes: when I post, subscribe me to that forum'
4. "Forum tracking" should be set to 'Yes: Highlight new posts for me'
5. When you have completed any changes, click 'Save changes' button.
