This refers to Moodle 4.3 from August 2024 onwards
When Moodle first loads you will be taken to your Dashboard, which will looks similar to the following (your list of courses/modules will differ).
Your Dashboard is divided into two sections. The central area displays the main content, such as the Timeline and Calendar.
There is also a block drawer to the right of the screen, which you can toggle open and closed by clicking the arrow to open and then the cross to close.
The right hand block drawer has a number of useful blocks, with the option to customise and add your own useful blocks such as 'Module overview' or 'Recently accessed items'. SeeCustomising your Dashboard - adding a Favourites block, for further guidance.

1. You can filter your modules to show just those 'In progress' (current year and ongoing modules), 'Future' (next academic year and later) and 'Past' – note that 'All' are visible by default. You can also filter by 'Starred' or 'Removed from view' See
| 2. You can sort modules alphabetically by 'Course name', or by date 'Last accessed'. There’s also a Recently Accessed Modules block which you can add to show you those you have most recently accessed. | 3. You can view the modules as 'Card' – the default, or as a 'List', or including the 'Summary'. Experiment to see which is right for you. | 4. Clicking on the three dots at the end of a module’s name allows you to 'Star' (or favourite) a module, or to 'Remove it from my view'. You can then filter by 'Starred' or 'Removed from view' as shown in box 1.
5. You will also see a progress percentage for any modules in where progress is tracked (most are not tracked). | 6. Scrolling to the bottom of the page, you have the option to select how many modules should be displayed on each screen. Click the arrows to move between screens. |
To return to the Dashboard from anywhere in Moodle click the Dashboard tab at the top of your screen.
