A database is usually used as a collection of knowledge. For instance, for example, your tutor may create a database use it to store a list of verbs if you’re studying a language, or information on hormones featured in Endocrinology. 

Your tutor can allow you to add entries or keep it closed.To

Once you’re in the Database page, in this case ‘Social Activities in Nottingham’our example ‘Visual perception and language reception example database’, you should see some guidance about on how to use the Database and possibly some you may see previous entries completed by from the tutor and/or other students.

You will also see four tabs, these areoptions:

With in a drop down menu you can choose between List View or Single View.

View List –  List – This is a list of all the entries in the Database made by other students and tutors.      You can sort the listings by Time Addedadded, Time Modified modified etc. at the bottom of the page.
View Single –
This allows you to view each entry on a single page rather than a list.  There is no ‘Sort By’ sort by option for this view, they are organised by page. Search –


There is also a search option. If there is a particular entry or entries you want to look for, do it here.  You can sort the listings by Time Added, Time Modified etc. at the top of the page.


Add Entry –
This is where you can add your own entry to the Database.

  1. To contribute/add a new entry to the Database, click on the 'Add Entry tab.

2. An editing page for a new entry will then appear.

When you've added your information, scroll to the bottom of the page and click either the ‘Save and view’ button (to save and see your entry) or the ‘Save and add another’ button (to save this entry and add another.)

Tip:
  Depending on the fields chosen by your tutor, you may be required to enter different types of information than noted here (you don’t need to complete every field).  

Tip:  if If you are asked to submit a media file, first upload it using the My Media option on in the drop menu after clicking the Hamburger icon on the top right-hand side of your screenat the top of the screen within the 'More' tab; then choose the item by clicking on the 'Embed Kaltura Media' button in the editor

Tip:  do Do NOT use the 'Choose a link' button when adding a web link, because this requires a repository which is not presently available. Just paste in or type the link please.
