Emails are sent through Moodle in a variety of ways.

Announcements

Many lecturers send out messages to all students on a module via the Announcements Forum.

This will be delivered to your University inbox.

Depending on your personal settings, it It may be as part of a once-a-day digest with the subject "moodle.Nottingham Forum Digest "

OR

each message may be delivered separately: in this case the message will have the shortname short name of the module in its title.

You can change this setting: see  How to Change the number of emails Moodle sends you

You cannot unsubscribe from this forumAnnouncements.

You can also see these messages in the Announcements forum in your module and in the Latest News block.

It is important that you:

  • Ensure you read any emails with the title moodle.Nottingham Forum Digest as this contains important messages from several modules.
  • Ensure you look at your UNIVERSITY Univeristy email address. Emails are sent only to the email address on your profile - normally the University one.

Forum posts

For any forums that you are subscribed to Moodle will send you messages when someone posts or replies to you.

...

If you have set Digest as above, then these will come as part of the Digest.

To ensure you get the Announcements and forum and other updates by email

Check your "Other", spam, clutter and junk email boxes

If you ignore enough messages from Moodle your email programme will assume they are spam or junk so check these folders regularly and certainly if you aren't receiving Announcements.

If you find a message that isn’t junk, drag it back to the Inbox or any folder. You can also mark the item as not junk by doing the following:

  • Click Home > Junk > Not Junk.

OR

  • Right click on the message (Outlook on the web), select 'Report' and 'Mark as not junk'

Personal Messages

Moodle has an internal messaging system - like text messages. Sometimes staff and individuals will contact you this way.

.  You will receive these as an email notification and possibly a pop-up depending on your settings.  The message will also be available through Messages in Moodle.

To access all your messages

  1. Click on your name initials at the top right-hand corner of the screen on Moodle
  2. Select 'Messages'
  3. Any unread messages will be on the Messages landing page.  If you wish to see older messages or to send a message to another student use Message navigation use Contacts to access your contacts and lists of participants on each of your modules.
