If you need to display complex equations in an activity or elsewhere in your module use the equation editor to help you. Here's how to use it using basic MathJax syntax.

Accessing the equation editor

1. Navigate to your course and click on the

2. In the section where you want to create your web page click on the Add an activity or resource hyperlink.

3. Select the activity or resource type that you want to add an equation to

4. Once you have selected an activity or resource a new page will open where you can fill in the settings, However in the text box you want to add the equation, expand the text editor toolbar by clicking on the 'Show

6. The 'Equation editor' window will open. Type in your equation and use the characters in the window. When you are done, select 'Save equation'
