How can I see when new items are added to a forum in my module?

If this has been enabled by the module designercreator, you can set Moodle to mark to mark new forum posts for you:

1. Go to your dashboard Dashboard by clicking 'the University logo' on  on the top left of every page in Moodle
2. Open your personal menu menu  (the down arrow next to your name at the top right) and click 'Preferences'

3. Click Forum preferences

4. Under "Forum tracking"  ensure ensure it is set to 'Yes: highlight new posts for me'

5. When you have made these changes, click on the 'the Save changes' button button

You can now see new posts highlighted in a number of ways, for example:

To ensure you're subscribed to a particular forum:

In the relevant forum:

1. Click the

1. Cogwheel at the top right of the forum and
2. click "Subscribe to this forum".

Forum preferences

This means that you will receive an email (either every time someone posts or once a day, depending on your profile settings)

1. Click your name (top right of the Moodle page) to drop down the your personal menu and 'then Preferences'
2. Select Forum preferences
3. "Forum auto-subscribe" should be set to 'Yes: when I post, subscribe me to that forum'

5. When you have completed any changes, click 'Save changes' button.

IMPORTANT: If you are subscribed, you will receive an email every time someone posts BUT you will no longer see the new posts highlighted in Moodle - the two settings are mutually exclusive.
